I’ve been having a case of writer’s block (blogger’s block?) lately. I’m working on a few posts but they’re taking quite a while and I’ve been busy with other things. So here are some interesting posts from other healers of every flavor that I think are worth a read. (Also, if you have any blog topic ideas for me, I’d love to hear them!)

Zinn at Jinxed Thoughts shares some information on secondary stat choices for disc priests.

Oestrus at The Stories of O tells everything you ever wanted to know about Chakra but were afraid to ask.

Jadiera at Totem Forest gives an overview of the cooldowns currently available to healing classes and considers what kind of cooldown would benefit Shaman most.

Keeva at Tree Bark Jacket tells druids how to make the most of Innervate, including tips on Innervate-swapping and ideas for Power Auras to help keep track.

Adgamorix at Divine Plea doesn’t believe in RNG and encourages people to take responsibility when things go wrong in raids.

Last, but not least, Windsoar at Jaded Alt has written raid guides for every 10-man tier 11 encounter. The guides are clear, concise and outline both the boss abilities and tips for the raid. Check them out!

I feel really sorry for the poor camels in Halls of Origination. Not only do they have to lug my fat tree butt around, but when I dismount, they die!

This week I found a very amusing quest in Azshara that asked me to rescue baby raptors. Rather than be happy for their rescue, they tried to eat my face. That’s gratitude for you.

My fiance bought me a fish last week. My cats are quite taken with it. I can’t tell if they want to play with it or eat it though. Either way, I don’t think it would end well for the fish.

Updates and Ramblings

After spending so much time working on my raid buff posts earlier in the week I feel incapable of writing anything terribly informative today. I would like to say thank you to everyone who linked to the posts on their blogs, guild websites or twitter. My visits over the last few days have tripled. I feel so loved!

Let’s see…what else is going on?

Hallow’s End

It’s that time again. I think this is my favourite holiday in WoW. All over the blogosphere I’ve been seeing people post about getting the Headless Horseman’s mount. A lot of the time on their first try. I haven’t had any luck yet but I remain hopeful (though I really have no reason to be hopeful, I don’t even have a single Brewfest mount). I’m dutifully logging in every hour on my druid (when I’m at home) to Trick or Treat in hopes of finishing a Mask for all Occasions. Achievements based solely on RNG are slightly infuriating.

I really wanted to get to 9k achievement points on my druid before Cata but my motivation is fading. I’m sitting at 8825 now (after 35 points being taken away in the patch. Grrr). I got my achievement for doing 1000 daily quests yesterday. I got Gurubashi Arena Grandmaster last week, which felt great to finally finish. I continue to work half-heartedly on Brood of Nozdormu rep (started the scepter quest line), Hydraxian Waterlords rep, Thorium Brotherhood rep (not an achievement itself, but will put me one closer to 40 exalted). I also still 4 have heroic achievements to do but have had absolutely no luck finding a group to do them with.

When I first tried out my hunter after the patch, I really hated it. I mostly kept that hatred to myself because I didn’t want to whine too much, but focus made me angry and I decided that I would not play my hunter anymore. I gave it another try yesterday after the much needed damage buffs went through. It’s actually not so bad. I got the hang of the MM rotation and was able to put out 9k on a dummy, compared to the 5k I was doing earlier. I still plan on changing Horde mains in Cataclysm, but I feel better about the hunter changes now.

New Horde Main?

So if I’m not playing my hunter in Cataclysm, who will be my Horde main? I haven’t really decided yet. My highest level characters are my Shaman and my Paladin. Neither of these are exciting me right now. What I really want to be is a protection warrior, but we’ve got a lot of those. I think I will still level one up once Cataclysm is released though. In order to trial a potential new main and cure the pre-Cata blahs I rolled an undead priest this week. Her name is Pasiphae and she is level 9. I’m so excited to ding 10 and get my first talent point. Mind Flay! Psynister has written an excellent guide on levelling a shadow priest in 4.0.1, which I am making use of.

Stealing is Bad

Everyone should go read Keeva’s latest post. The short version is that she found a new druid blog this week and found that almost all the content had been stolen from other blogs and presented as the author’s own work. This is a big no-no. There are two lessons to take from this. First, if you are thinking about copying someone’s work without proper attribution, don’t. Second, if you are a blogger and are concerned about this, read up on Creative Commons Licencing. I knew nothing about it, but have now put one up on my own blog.

Creative Commons Licence

Speaking of bad things, I did something last night that I am not proud of (it wasn’t steal other people’s work). My fiance mocked me relentlessly when he found out and I now feel like a giant hypocrite. I’m not even ready to say what it is yet, though I think someone just outed me.

Updates, guild meets and other entertainment

It’s been a while since I did an update post and a lot has been going on. My Horde guild has had a miraculous turnaround. After recruiting some great new players we are now filling raids (we even have a bench!), and making progress. Last week we got our second Halion kill, completed three ICC hard modes thanks to a Kingslayer that joined us and got our first Sindragosa kill. Unfortunately, I missed the Sindy and Halion kills (the downside to having a bench), but I’m very excited that they happened.

We’ve also had a number of local people join the guild after our first local meetup. I was a little wary of meeting strangers, but everyone was super-friendly and we’ll hopefully make it a monthly occurrence.

In other meet-up news, Arm of Hades is having our first international guild meet! We’ve rented a cabin outside of St. Louis for the long weekend. I’m excited to finally meet some of the people I’ve been playing with for the last 2 and a half years. I’m sure I’ll write some more about this later.

Over on the Alliance side, things are slowing down. 🙁
We don’t always manage to scrape together 25 people for raids and our progress has stalled. We killed our last hard mode (Lady Deathwhisper) 6 weeks ago and since then we’ve spent maybe 3 hours on heroic Sindragosa and 1 hour on heroic Putricide. I don’t expect to be able to kill them anytime soon at that rate. It seems to be really difficult to recruit on our server, it’s huge and it is very competitive. Our 9/12 hard mode progression puts us at #17 in terms of server progression which I’m sure isn’t a big draw. On most other servers we’d be in the top 10, but there are just so many other raiding guilds to compete with. Hopefully things will turn around a bit or maybe we’ll take a break from raiding until the expansion.

I’ve been entertaining myself with non-WoW things a lot lately. Reading a lot of books, watching DVDs, playing on Xbox. I’m currently reading Feed, which I first heard about from Professor Beej, and I’m playing Lost Odyssey. I’m thinking of starting up a second blog to talk about books and movies. I just joined Goodreads and I’ve been having fun inputting and rating all the books I’ve read over the last 10 years. The site seems like a much better way to keep track of what I’ve read than the crumpled notebook I’ve been using.

Hopefully I’ll be able to pull myself away from Goodreads long enough to put up a couple more Healing ICC posts this week.

Pets Galore!

No, I’m not talking about my kitties. I’m talking about my hunter pets! Pets are one of the things that first drew me to the hunter class. Who doesn’t like the thought of cute, furry little creatures as your faithful companions, always by your side, ripping out the throats of your enemies.

My Pets

Toby the tiger

My first, and favorite pet is Toby.  When I decided to play a hunter, I knew that I wanted a tiger as my pet. As soon as I could, I left the blood elf starting zone and hoofed it over to Durotar to tame him. I’m a cat person, I’m still sad that cats don’t provide the best DPS anymore. Hopefully this changes in Cataclysm and I can use Toby again.

Raptor the...raptor

Raptor was my second pet. Poor thing never even got a proper name. My real reason for taming him? He matched my favorite mount. If only I could get a pair of boots that matched them both…

Guybrush the gorilla

I had a hard time finding a tanking pet that I liked. I had tried a bear on a previous hunter that got abandoned. For a long time I had a turtle, Koopa. Then I decided to get a gorilla. I liked that they could Thunderstomp. As I wandered around Feralas looking for one to tame, a couple of my guildies were talking about The Curse of Monkey Island. Thus, Guybrush was born.

Trouser the serpent

Midway through Wrath, I decided I should have a cunning pet to round out my stable. I’m annoyed by flying pets, so it had to be either a serpent or a spider. Flying around Sholazar, I found this pretty, pink snake. His name is Trouser.

Kitty the wolf

The last pet I tamed, and my current raiding pet, is Kitty. When I decided I needed a wolf to maximize my dps, I wanted to get a nice looking one. I was not going to have one of the scrawny looking things from Storm Peaks. This is my favorite wolf look in the game. Kitty also matches one of my mounts.

Pets I Wish I Had

I’ve always wished I could tame a zhevra. I was tempted to recruit a “friend” so I could get one for a mount, but what I really want is to have one as a pet. It may not look too intimidating compared to the other options, but I think that horn could make it a force to be reckoned with.

Zhevra's have sharp horns

I also wish I could have my kitty Max as a hunter pet. He may be small, but he has a special ability that is unique to him. If hostile entities look at Max for too long, their heads explode from the sheer overload of cute. Messy, but effective.
