This is Day 7 of the 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge.
When I decided I wanted to make a blog I knew it would take me a month to come up with a name for it on my own. It takes me hours just to make a character name, and I knew naming a blog would be even worse. So I emailed my guildmates and asked them for idea, wanting them to keep in mind that I planned to write about both druids and hunters. I got some interesting suggestions:
- The Curative Bovine – Jasyla has always been an elf…maybe I should have been offended by this suggestion.
- Ameliorative Measures from an Elven Perspective – This was the suggestion I got after I pointed out that I was an elf. Since I had to look up ‘ameliorative’ I didn’t think it was the name for me.
- Hunter and Hunted – Sort of works, but I didn’t like the thought of druids being hunted.
- Toby and Me – Toby is the name of hunter Jasyla’s favorite pet. One guildmate suggested I use this name and write half my posts from Toby’s perspective.
- A Tree by the Brook – This is one I thought of. I like the lyrical reference but since I always hated tree form, I wanted something else.
Finally one of my guildmates came up with Cannot be Tamed. I liked it right away. I thought it fit the druid/hunter angle really well and was cute in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. I no longer play my hunter so the name has lost a bit of its meaning, but I still really like it and can see new meanings in it. I am completely stubborn and always refusing to toe the druid party line on things like tree form and the state of resto, so I think it still fits.
Welcome to my new home!
I finally made the switch from Blogger to self-hosted WordPress. It was a fair bit of work (mostly because I like to make things difficult for myself), but now that it’s all done, I’m very happy with it.
Please re-subscribe to the new Feedburner feed (on the right) and update your links if I happen to be on your blogroll.
There were a few hiccups when I brought my blog over here. I lost a few comments (luckily they were mostly my own comments and I could recreate them), and I also had to migrate a few posts over a couple of times, so I’m sorry if I’ve spammed anyone with pingbacks. If you notice anything funny with the site please let me know.
A big thank-you to Vidyala who made my banner and a lovely avatar image of Jasyla.
I’ve got a couple posts in the works: lessons I learned while migrating my blog as well as a raid frame showdown. There’s a new UI post lurking around in my brain, but those take so long.
Anyway, thanks for joining me over here. I hope you like it.
I created a new, non-WoW blog over the weekend. There’s not much on it yet, but I will be discussing and reviewing games, movies and books. If you’re interested in those things, give it a look at:
I set up the new blog using self-hosted WordPress. Thank you to everyone who weighed in on my blogspot vs. wordpress dilemma. Special thank-yous to Jen, who set up a WordPress install on her server so I could test it out and Zelmaru who gave me some much needed hand-holding and fixed all my HTML problems.
I’ve still got some stuff to do: create a header, find some new stuff to put in the sidebar, add to the blogroll, add any nifty plgins I can find. If anyone has any suggestions or critique I’m happy to hear it.
I will most likely be moving this blog over to WordPress in the near(ish) future, but I need at least a few weeks before I’ll be able to stand looking at themes again.
