This is Day 3 of the 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge.
My first day playing WoW seems like it was ages ago. My memories of what exactly I did in the game are a little hazy.
I remember the character selection process best. I found humans boring, gnomes ridiculous and dwarves weren’t for me. A night elf was the obvious choice. Horde was never an option. Of the classes available, Druids stood out because of their versatility and their affinity with nature. I had no problems choosing my appearance, but then I got to name selection. I must have spent at least 2 hours trying to think of a name. I went through names in Greek mythology; I thought of characters in my favorite books. I ended up writing all these names off, or finding out that they were unavailable. Then I thought about my favorite video game, Planescape Torment. There was a minor NPC character that needed to be rescued from some corrupt guards called Jasilya. I’m not really into the whole damsel-in-distress thing but I liked the sound of the name. I changed it a bit to make it my own (and vowed to never have to be rescued from corrupt Harmonium Officers) and Jasyla was born.

After that ordeal, I finally logged into the game. I was impressed with the environment; I loved the greens and purples of Teldrassil. I was much less impressed by quests that had me killing cute little nightsabers. To be honest, I found the whole mob-killing, item-collecting thing a little dull and decided that World of Warcraft was not for me.
** Spoiler Alert: I changed my mind **
Then I signed into the game again the next day. I mean, come on, I needed to spend at least as much time playing the game as I did thinking of a name for my character. I began to realise just how much there was to do and see in the game.
Ooh, a new town to discover with new quests to do! A new spell from my trainer! That mob dropped a green I can equip! I’ve earned a whole silver! Whee!
By the time I made it to Darnassus, I was hooked.

This is Day 2 of the 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge.
I started reading WoW blogs a little over two years ago. Before that I mostly used resource sites like wowhead or thottbot for any WoW info I needed, or just figured things out for myself. However, once I discovered the huge and diverse blogging community (especially the druid blogs), I was hooked.
As I read through my favorite blogs and saw the amount of discussion and the exchange of ideas that took place on a regular basis I began to consider making one myself. I figured I could share my thoughts on druid healing along with the experiences I had from raiding with two guilds.
One day I was sitting at work during the Christmas holidays, completely alone with no actual work to do. On that day I also found Miss Medicina’s Circle of Healers questionnaire. I figured that having a post topic handed to me on a silver platter like that when I had all the time in the world to write was a good sign. After figuring out a blog name (which is a topic for another day) I immediately went over to Blogspot and created my blog.
Twenty-three months later, it’s still here! My blogging platform has changed and so has the subject matter to an extent, but I’m still really enjoying writing here and I have gotten to know a lot of great people through blogging.
I’m a little – okay, a lot – late to this party, but after some convincing from another blogger I’ve finally decided to tackle Saga’s 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge! I always wanted to do these, but never quite got around to it.
The topic for day 1 is introductions. I feel a little odd giving an introduction when I’ve been at this blogging stuff for almost 2 years, but here we go…
Hi! My name is Jasyla. Or Pam, depending on how well you know me. I am a proud Canadian – I love poutine and am polite to strangers – and I’ve lived in the Toronto area for my whole life.
I’ve been a gamer since the time I was first able to sit in front of a computer without falling off the chair. The earliest games I can remember playing are Qbert, the Oregon Trail and Pong. From there I moved on to adventure games like Maniac Mansion and The Secret of Monkey Island and eventually got hooked on consoles, from NES to Playstation to XBox.
I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since the spring of 2006. Jasyla the Druid was the first character I created, and has been my main the whole time. Though I started off as Balance, I’ve been a Resto Druid fangirl ever since I got dragged into my first Zul’Gurub raid at level 56 because my guild was desperate for healers. I play WoW with two guilds. My druid is a raider, sometime PVPer and full-time achievement whore in Apotheosis. I also raid as a Disc Priest (previously a Resto Shaman and Hunter) in Arm of Hades.
In real life I work for government doing web stuff, but who wants to talk about work?
I like to read and I try to get through at least a couple of books a month. End-of-the-world books are my favorite genre (sub-genre?), but I’ll read most types of fiction and also really enjoy reading about science, astronomy in particular. I love to cook (and eat) great food, drink good wine and play with kittens. I’m also hooked on a number of TV series – currently watching Castle, The Walking Dead, Glee and America’s Next Top Model, I’m a big MMA fan (the bloodier the fight, the better) and I have an unnatural fondness for ridiculous old game shows.
That’s about all I can think of for now. If you want to know anything else, just ask!
